"TRIBAL GROUPS and GAGGLES" NYC

I sometimes feel like an unintentional researcher for one of those zoological episodes on the National Geographic Channel and on various urban rambles have taken notice of the many small identifiable tribal groups, clusters, or gaggles (5 or more) in a single small geographical area.

A SPECIAL VISITOR

so, there I was, watering the "front forty"(4th floor window boxes), when I noticed a special visitor.
What an incredible creature, with delicate features and movements and a wise "Yoda-like" expression.
We invited her in for a short visit and film session. A lovely time was had by all.

DOUBLE DECKER BILLBOARD BUSES NYC

"CHEEZY PHOTO TRIX"

OK, I admit to having a soft spot for cheesy photo tricks and must thank my family for indulging me on this.  Early road trips would always include at least a few "put your head here" tourist photo op props.  Now, living during a time when 90% of the population has a camera or device ready to document at the slightest provocation, we owe it to ourselves
to have as much fun as possible with this option.  Of course it does help to live in a city with an abundance of backdrop possibilities.

a few excerpts from the family album…

"WELLING COURT MURAL PROJECT"

This weekend I was fortunate to attend the third annual Welling Court Mural Project in Astoria Queens.  It was a gorgeousSaturday afternoon, hints of aerosol wafted on the breeze, and over 50 artists were spread out over a several block area bordered by a community garden and a culturally diverse neighborhood. The project evolved when community leaders who were interested in finding a way to beautify the area were
introduced to the Ad Hoc Gallery, formerly in Bushwick.  The gallery represents a top tier roster of national and international street artists. The resulting blend of outstanding street
art and a supportive community has resulted in one of the most dynamic collections of
this art form in the city today.
