Last weekend our family went birding in Central Park and I was introduced to close up
views (via binoculars) of some of the magnificent creatures that pause in NYC on their long
journey north. I had never really enjoyed such intimate proximity to the yellow and black
markings of a magnolia warbler, the old blues of the indigo bunting, or the dazzling red of
a New York local, the cardinal.
These views by New York street artists are obviously not the birds we saw but they do reflect the need we all have, in spite of our dense urban world, to include animals in our environment.
